Wooly Mammoth was a stoner rock/metal band based out of Washington D.C. in the United States. Wooly Mammoth was formed in October of 2000 and released their first EP, Ten Ton Baby on 6 March 2002. The band recorded two songs for their 2004 split release with The Hidden Hand and appearance at the Emissions from the Monolith. They recorded their debut full length album, The Temporary Nature, in 2005 which was produced by The Hidden Hand bassist Bruce Falkinburg. Hidden Hand guitarist Wino is featured on the track "Mammoth Bones." The Temporary Nature saw release on 26 November 2006 via UnderDogma Records. The band would perform with the likes of The Hidden Hand, Clutch and The Sword in December 2006.[1]

Following lineup changes, Wooly Mammoth would perform largely as support for the likes of Weedeater, Stinking Lizaveta and Unsane among others.[2] Wooly Mammoth would quietly disband some years later.
