Wiht are an instrumental band from Leeds, Yorkshire, England. Initially active for three years between 2009 and 2012 before reforming in 2015 the band evokes a post-rock sound influenced by doom, similar to bands like Pelican, SubArachnoid Space and Russian Circles.
History[]
Wiht formed in 2009, releasing a self-titled, self-released 3 track EP of that year on 15 January 2010.[1] From there the band began to get gigs around the Leeds area, sharing the stage with the likes of Conan, A Forest of Stars and Brant Bjork among others. The next year the band would begin work on and release their debut album The Harrowing of the North, released independently. From there the band would perform at a host of shows in the Leeds area including an appearance at Filth Fest with Conan. The next year The Harrowing of the North would see a vinyl release with a bonus track but along with that would be the group disbanding with their last show at the time on 30 March 2012.[2]
In 2015 Wiht would reform with the original lineup and release a 17-minute single entitled Edgar The Atheling. The earliest known reformation date was on 10 October 2015 at No Fun Intended.[3] From there the band is still actively performing in Leeds and writing new material. The band would take a two-year hiatus once again, announcing a return show set for 26 January 2019.[4]
