Volumes 9 & 10 is the fifth compilation album by The Desert Sessions. Comprised of the ninth (Volume 9: I See You Hearin' Me) and tenth (Volume 10: I Heart Disco) volumes in the series, Volumes 9 & 10 would be released on CD and as a double 10" set. Since Man's Ruin Records folded in 2001, Volumes 9 & 10 would be released in a joint venture between Homme's label Rekords Rekords, along with Ipecac Recordings. 9 & 10 features PJ Harvey, Ween's Dean Ween, Marilyn Manson's (and formerly of Nine Inch Nails) Jeordie White, Eleven's Alain Johannes, as well as Queens of the Stone Age's Troy Van Leeuwen (formerly of A Perfect Circle) and Joey Castillo (formerly of Danzig).
"I Wanna Make It wit Chu" was later released on the Queens of the Stone Age album Era Vulgaris under the title "Make It wit Chu". "Covered in Punk's Blood" has also been played by the band at live shows as seen in the live album and video Over the Years and Through the Woods. Homme has since stated that “Dead In Love” and “I Wanna Make It Wit Chu” were written for Brody Dalle "I went back to do those Desert Sessions, and you can tell what I was going through because I was writing stuff like “Dead In Love” and “I Wanna Make It Wit Chu”. I was so in love, I was totally revelling in it so much, I was a little paralysed”.[1]
"In My Head... Or Something" was re-recorded for Queens of the Stone Age's fourth album Lullabies to Paralyze as "In My Head". "Covered in Punk's Blood" was occasionally played live by Queens of the Stone Age during 2005. Along with "I Wanna Make It wit Chu", it appears on their 2005 live CD/DVD package Over the Years and Through the Woods.
Crawl Home would be released as a stand-alone single in November 2003.
Volumes 9 & 10 would see positive reviews.[2][3][4]
