Twylight Songs is a 7" single by the English doom metal band Cathedral, released in 1993 via Ultimatum Records. It would be released on red wine vinyl and comes with a xeroxed black and white insert. It also came with a copy of a faxed sheet from Lee Dorrian explaining these two tracks.
Track 1: recorded at Workshop Studios, Redditch August 8, 1991. Track 2: recorded at Rhythm Studios, March 3, 1992.
This 7" was used as part of a marketing tool during the period when Columbia Records and Earache Records worked together. During the distribution of the Cutting Through Columbia Hard Music Promo, a note came with it stating that if you liked Cathedral's track "Autumn Twilight" enough to purchase the Soul Sacrifice EP and mailed the UPC label to Columbia/Earache, they would send you a special gift and this 7" single was that gift.
Cathedral's cover of the Black Sabbath Song "Solitude" would also appear on Masters Of Misery - Black Sabbath: The Earache Tribute. However, this version is an entirely different mix. Neither track would appear on the 2004 rarities collection The Serpent's Gold and has since become somewhat of a collector's item.
