Website Turbowolf Official

Turbowolf are a rock quartet based out of Bristol, England. Formed in 2007 by core members Christopher Georgiadis and Andy Ghosh, Turbowolf quickly built a reputation as an energetic rock act be it studio or live. With a rock nucleus the band expands on that with elements of electronica, psychedelic, stoner rock, punk rock and heavy metal, often making them hard to pinpoint on a simple categorization.[1] This diversity of sound has led them touring with bands ranging from heavy metal to punk rock to indie rock and much more.

To date Turbowolf has released three studio albums amid a wide range of other releases, all the while a touring force in the European rock circles.

History[]

Turbowolf would form in 2007, founded by Christopher Georgiadis, Andy Ghosh, Chris Davis and Jeremy Dunham. The band released their first demo in 2007 (Avec! Avec!) and sold it through their MySpace page. Eventually the quartet began performing regularly in Bristol, leading up to the release of their debut single Bite Me Like A Dog, released 4 April 2008 with a release party the came day at The Croft.[2] Along with performing at Rocket Festival in Spain the band would perform more regularly throughout various cities in England.[3] Over the next couple years Turbowolf further developed their musical style in a series of UK tours and shows with the likes of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Computers, Pulled Apart by Horses & Dinosaur Pile-Up. In 2010 they also toured Europe with Korn & Dimmu Borgir. The band have also been very active on the festival circuit clocking up performances at Download, Sonisphere, Lovebox, Great Escape, SXSW, Boardmasters & Hevy amongst others.[4][5]

Shortly after signing to Hassle Records in June 2011, Turbowolf released A Rose for the Crows as their first single. The video, directed by Stephen Agnew, was previewed exclusively on Kerrang! magazine's website. The second single Read & Write featured a heavily psychedelic video (also directed by Stephen Agnew), which was premiered on NME magazine's website. The band's debut album, the eponymous Turbowolf would see release on 11 November 2011 to positive critical acclaim.

Going into 2012 the band saw somewhat of a lineup change with new drummer Blake Davies and bassist Joe Baker, touring relentlessly through the year to support their acclaimed debut. The band would also release a covers EP that October entitled Covers EP Vol. 1, covering the likes of The Hives, MGMT, Lightning Bolt and Jefferson Airplane.[6][7]

The band would be quickly working on new songs and in February 2013 would introduce a new bassist in Lianna Lee Davies.[8] Among short tours of the UK and the occasional trek out the band would also appear at the likes of Camden Rocks, RedFest and Desertfest London.[9] Signing to Spinefarm Records, Turbowolf premiered a new single circa April 2014 in Solid Gold, which was available as a free download on Kerrang! magazines website and also hosted the accompanying video. That October the band released another single in Rabbits Foot which was supported by BBC Radio 1 as it achieved their rockest record of the week and the track appeared on many of the radio station's daytime shows, making it Turbowolf's most listened to song as of 2014. A music video for this was released later on in autumn. The band also announced a tour with Death From Above 1979 and another headlining tour with bands including 'Hyena' and 'Dolomite Minor' around December in the same year also. Announcing a new album on 27 October 2014 and unveiling the tracklist the next January, Two Hands would see release on 6 April 2015 to critical acclaim.

Turbowolf would extensively tour Europe to support Two Hands, sharing the stage with the likes of Death From Above 1979, Royal Blood, Dolomite Minor, Hyena, Red Fang, Against Me!, Agnostic Front and Bring Me The Horizon just to scratch the surface. The band would also perform their first ever tour of North America, including appearances at Louder Than Life and Aftershock Festival.[10] A North American tour with Death From Above 1979 (Including dates at Rock on The Range, Carolina Rebellion and Northern Invasion) would follow, returning to their native England for a return appearance at Download Festival.[11]

With sporadic shows in 2017 (Namely appearances at Reading Festival and Leeds Festival)[12] Turbowolf would begin work on a third studio album. Recorded and produced by the band at various studios while signing with So Recordings, The Free Life would see release on 9 March 2018. To support the album the band toured Europe with Puppy and even made a short tour of the United States with Royal Blood, followed by appearing at several festivals and closing out the year supporting Killing Joke on their fortieth anniversary tour.[13] Sporadic shows came in 2019, including an appearance at Kristonfest.
