Transcendence into the Peripheral is the first and only studio album by the Australian death/doom band Disembowelment. Musically, the album features a slowly executed drumming style, accompanied by death metal vocals, chants and passages of dark ambience. Originally released on 28 September 1993 and later reissued over the years, Transcendence has been widely regarded as a key album in the development of doom metal, along with one of the greatest death/doom albums.

Transcendent into the Peripheral would be largely ignored by critics upon release but would by highly regarded in the years following it's release. Along with being ranked #15 on Decibel Magazine's "Top 100 Doom Metal Albums of All Time",[1] the magazine would also rank it #1 on their list "One Album Wonders".[2] Transcendence would also be ranked #15 on Loudwire's "Top 25 Doom Metal Albums of All Time"[3] and be listed as one of Treble Zine's "Top Ten Essential Doom Albums".[4]

Members of Disembowelment would form a project known as d.USK in 2012, notably performing the entirety of Transcendence into the Peripheral at the 2012 edition of Roadburn Festival.
