Trampled Under Hoof is the second EP by the California doom metal band Goatsnake. Recorded between 1999 and 2004 in various sessions, Trampled Under Hoof would contain two previously released covers along with three brand new songs.
The first three songs would feature Scott Reeder (Across The River, Kyuss, Unida, The Obsessed) on bass and John-Robert Conners (Doomriders, Zozobra, Cave-In) on drums, notably the only Goatsnake songs to feature either musician. Guitar & Drums for the three songs would be recorded by Mathias Schneeberger at the Gas Chamber circa Summer 2002, while the Bass and Vocals would be recorded by Reeder at Sanctuary in 2004, with mixing and mastering to follow that May and June.
The two other songs (Listed as a "Goat Bonus") would be previously released covers recorded by the original lineup at The Gas Chamber in 1999. Burial at Sea, a Saint Vitus cover, originally appeared on Goatsnake / Burning Witch which was released in 2000. "Hot Rod", a Black Oak Arkansas cover, originally appeared on the Rise Above Records compilation RISE 13 - Magick Rock Vol. 1, released in 1999.
Along with a CD version, Trampled Under Hoof was released on Black, Clear and Green Vinyl.
To line up with the release of Trampled Under Hoof (Along with the reissues of I + Dog Days), Goatsnake would perform two shows in September 2004 with the lineup of Anderson, Stahl, Reeder and Conners. The dates would be 4 September at The Elbo Room in San Francisco (Three Days of Darkness) and 6 September at The Knitting Factory in San Diego. Both shows would feature Khanate, Thrones, Graves at Sea and Lair of The Minotaur as support.[1]
