The Original Human Being (Also known as BC5: The Original Human Being is the fifth studio album by Blue Cheer, released in September 1970, reaching #188 on the Billboard 200 at the time of it's release.

Background[]

By 1969, Blue Cheer had fully embraced a sound more closely resembling that of commercial rock rather than the heavy hard rock the band had been known for in their beginnings. Gary Lee Yoder, whom contributed songwriting to two songs on the previous album, would join the band as the guitarist for the band's fifth record. The album's sound is more laid-back commercial rock with heavy production and experimentation with various instruments, notably a sitar-driven song in "Babaji (Twilight Raga)". In regards to founder Dickie Peterson his role in the band would diminish by this point, only contributing vocals to three songs, songwriting to two and bass to a handful of tracks.

An edited version of "Pilot" (With "Babaji" as the b-side) would be released as a single via Philips in 1971.
