The Oath were a short-lived occult doom band based out of Berlin, Germany. The project would be formed by Johanna Sadonis (Cryogenic, Dies Ater) and Linnéa Olsson (Sonic Ritual, Slingblade, Beastmilk) on 7 July 2012. Recruiting bassist Simon Bouteloup (Kadavar) and drummer Vincent Wager, The Oath would record on December 2012 to January 2013 at Tiger Studio in Berlin, Germany. Signing to High Roller Records, The Oath would release a 7" single entitled Night Child on 17 April 2013.
Not long after the band would sign with English label Rise Above Records, along with touring Germany with the Swedish hard rock band Ghost. The Oath would record an album's worth of material at Studio Cobra, Stockholm, Sweden, from 20 - 30 August 2013 with drummer Andy Prestige (Warning, 40 Watt Sun) and lead guitarist Henrik Palm (In Solitude, Ghost). The Oath would see release via Rise Above Records on 17 March 2014 to positive reviews. However a month later on 29 April it would be announced that The Oath would disband.
Linnéa Olsson would be involved with Beastmilk and Grave Pleasures before founding Maggot Heart in 2016. Johanna Sadonis and Andy Prestige would found Lucifer later in 2014.
