The Forest is the second album by the Canadian one-man band Soulers, released on September 1, 2017. It was inspired by Dai Maō's stressful exploration in the forest and deals with anything that happens in the forest, such as tragedies and wildfires.
Musical style Edit
The album marks a stylistic turn towards a progressive doom sound with elements from thrash metal and death metal, leaving behind the instrumental rock sound from the previous album Beautiful Like a Rainbow. Influences for The Forest included Potmos Hetoimos and Dream Theater.
At 39 minutes, it was the shortest Soulers album ever released until it was over-taken by 2018's The Cosmic Dimension.
