The Difference Engine is the second studio album by the Dutch stoner rock band Beaver. Recorded in the Fall of 1997, it would be released later that year via Elegy Records, an Amsterdam label that was active between 1984 and 2004. The album would be produced by the band with Jacques de Haard, except for "Green" which was produced by Josh Homme, Dave Catching and Hutch.
