The Descent of Man is an eleven-hour live session recorded by the English doom metal band Sabazius, allegedly intended to span twenty-four. Along with being released digitally, the song was available from Earache Records in a limited edition USB drive in the shape of a 3D skull, which was pictured as album art. Notably the file of the song itself is 6.66 GB, an intentional arrangement by the band.
The Descent of Man notably gained coverage from MetalSucks, who were perplexed by the release in itself but nonetheless showcased it and noted the file size.[1] Unsurprisingly the song has attained fairly mixed reviews,[2] some of which heavily criticizing the release.[3][4]
