The Big Bang is the fifth studio album by the Kentucky indie rock band King Kong. Recorded in 2001 after a four year hiatus, it would be released on CD and LP in the Spring of 2002 via Drag City Records. A concept album like many of the band's prior works, The Big Bang conceptualizes the story of a man fed up with humanity, fleeing Earth via rocket ship and landing on Planet Kong, becoming their leader.[1] In turn, the band's B-52 inspired party rock sound would take more of a space rock and psychedelic influence, with longer compositions throughout.
The Big Bang would recieve average reviews in light of it's release.[2][3]
