Taint were a three-piece metal band from Swansea, Wales. Their sound meshed stoner rock with sludge metal. In their existence the band released two studio albums along with a host of other releases and toured all over Europe.

History[]

The band formed in 1994 while still teenagers, releasing a string of demos, compilation features and split records over the first eleven years, sharing the stage with the likes of Sally, Karma To Burn and Unsane among others.

In 2005, upon signing with Rise Above Records, the band would release their first studio album The Ruin of Nová Roma. A string of shows with Clutch and Five Horse Johnson would follow as the band led to further touring into the next year, sharing the stage with the likes of Knut, My Chemical Romance, The Ataris, Blutch and Mondo Generator along with appearances at Dour Festival and Hellfest.

Going into 2007, Taint had a second album released on Rise Above entitled Secrets and Lies, touring alongside The Sword and Clutch in March 2007. The next year led to the band further touring alongside Kylesa and Baroness in the winter and Ken Mode in the spring along with an appearance at Roadburn Festival. The band would once again support Clutch in the summer that year in sporadic European dates.

In 2009, Taint's next release came on Destructure in the form of an EP entitled All Bees To the Sea. The band toured into 2010 in support of what would be their final release, sharing the stage alongside Eyehategod and Manatees to name a few.

In September 2010, The band announced via their website that they were disbanding after 16 years. They played their final show on 18 December 2010 in their hometown Swansea.[1] Jimbob and Chris still make music, Jimbob forming another three-piece band called H A R K, whose debut 7 inch was released in 2012, and Chris joining Spider Kitten.
