Stonus are a stoner/heavy rock quintet originating from Nicosia, Cyprus and currently based in London, England. Their sound can be described as a mixture of stoner, psychedelic, desert, alternative and doom rock with pyrotechnic guitars, fuel firing solos, powerful drumming and raw dirty riffs held together by the melodic vocals and coloured by analogue equipment, complimented by high-energy live performances.

To date Stonus have released three extended plays, building up to their debut album released in 2020.

History[]

Stonus would start in the summer of 2015, largely performing live shows in their native Cyprus[1][2] along with the likes of performing at Nicosia Rock Festival.[3] In 2017 the band would release their debut single Coming In (10 February) followed by their first EP Supertrip (23 August).

Along with following up with a second EP in Lunar Eclipse circa 18 October 2018, the band would begin performing in the United Kingdom, their earliest known set in England would be on 22 October.[4] Stonus would follow up in 2019 with an appearance at SoundLab Festival in Romania.[5] The band would begin work on a debut album, recording at Wreck It Sounds with George Leodis and releasing a single in Sweetspot that November.

With details on the album announced in February,[6] Stonus' debut album Aphasia would see release on 6 March 2020 via Electric Valley Records (Vinyl) and Daredevil Records (CD). Aphasia would attain praise from several publications such as Angry Metal Guy,[7] Metal Jacket Magazine[8] and Exhimetal[9] among others.
