Stoner Rock Revolution was a short-lived website documenting the Canadian stoner rock scene, along with touring acts. Conceived in August 2004 and launched on 27 September, Stoner Rock Revolution would host reviews and interviews in the vein of most sites, along with promoting events in the Ontario area. The website also planned to curate a compilation documenting Canada's stoner rock scene.
Archived Biography[]
In late august 2004, after a whirlwind east coast stoner fest extravaganza, a stealth meeting of the minds took place in (of all places) Milton, Ontario. Mister Bones front man, Alex Petrovich and Electric Magmas Tryg Smith met one saturday afternoon to begin the wheels turning on Stoner Rock Revolution. Through the smoke and beer things began to come together. By 4 am that morning the logo was complete and the beginnings of a foundation were set. Within a matter of weeks, bands had been contacted and meetings set.
Kitchener was the location of the next meeting. Band members were present from Diablo Red, Sleeping Beard, Inside, Mister Bones and Electric Magma. More ideas and forward motion for the Revolution. The bands discussed future projects including the first compilation CD, and a traveling showcase of the bands featured on this website. They also knew they would need an internet presence... a place to showcase their music to the world. Which brings us to today...
this is the official beginnings of the Stoner Rock Revolution. The beginnings of change and unity for a genre that has withstood the test of time and plowed though the underground music scene like a runaway train. This website will be a forum and a means of presenting to the world, the works of some of the genres finest and hardest working bands. The intensity of sounds and passion for the music are unparalleled in any other genre of music. The stoner rock movement has wreaked havoc on the mainstream ideal for over a decade, and now its time to reinvent things and bring stoner rock to its deserved position at the forefront of the underground rock music scene.
