Starchild are a doom metal band originating from Waycross, Georgia. Active in their initial run between 2003 and 2006, Starchild managed to release two studio albums and tour throughout the United States through the likes of 12th Records and PsycheDOOMelic. After an absence in their initial run spanning nearly a decade, Starchild would return as largely a studio project. Their sound resembles that of traditional doom with psychedelic tendencies.

The band's name is a play on Ace Frehley's moniker in the band KISS.

History[]

Starchild had started by the trio of Bennett, Sikes and O'Bara sometime in 2003, quickly signing to 12th Records to release their debut album that same year. As far as the band's initial run with touring, Starchild mainly played the bulk of their shows between 2003 and 2005, touring from coast to coast and appearing at the 2004 edition of Emissions from the Monolith.[1] The trio would record a demo with three of the four tracks later appearing on a split with Rebreather. On Valentine's Day 2006, Starchild would release their second studio album in Born Into Eternity with distribution via PsycheDOOMelic, garnering praise among the stoner circles. However not long after it's release, Richard Bennett would be diagnosed with chronic tinnitus which forced the band to break up.

Starchild however would reform in 2014 albeit as a studio-only project and releasing a host of archival material, including Black Sabbath covers of Planet Caravan and Electric Funeral, a cover of Dragonaut by Sleep, a split single with new project Stars That Move and a previously unreleased live album.
