The Springwater Supper Club is a dive bar based in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. While it was founded as the Springwater in 1978, the building had been active as a bar since 1896 and is cited as the oldest bar in Tennessee.[1] Hosting events seven days a week, The Springwater remains an active venue for local acts and touring acts of all genres.
History[]
The building that would later be The Sprignwater was originally opened in 1896 as the bar for the Tennessee Centennial and International Exposition, making it older than the neighboring Parthenon. Throughout the Prohibition era the bar would be converted into a speakeasy and later the Pirate's Den before settling on the Springwater name in 1978.[2]
Supposedly Al Capone and Jimmy Hoffa were patrons at The Springwater and enjoyed gambling there in the prohibition era. The Black Keys filmed a music video for their song "Little Black Submarines", from their 2011 album El Camino, at the Springwater, turning the video shoot into a secret Nashville gig for some of their most dedicated fans.[3]
