Soom (сум; Ukrainian for "grief") was a Ukrainian band from Kharkiv, Ukraine formed in 2013. They have released 2 studio albums, one EP, 3 split EPs and 2 singles. They released their final album Djebars on April 20, 2018 before breaking up in 2019.
History[]
Soom was formed in Kharkiv, Ukraine at the end of 2013. The band was set up on the outskirts of the projects that had been lying in the sources of the Kharkiv stoner sludge scene since 2010. After a lot of changes in line-up, in 2016, the golden composition was formed: Mykola "Amorth" Sostin on drums, Tomrer on bass and Alexey Kovalov on guitars and vocals. During the period from 2013 to 2017, Soom recorded two splits with Pressor, Diazepam and Il, one full-length album titled Nich na Polonyni and one EP titled Zhakh i Ohyda in 2015 and a split with Vena in 2017. They also performed in the Electric Funeral Café compilation from Robustfellow three times. In 2018, Tomrer left the band and was replaced by Gerostrat. This line-up released the second Soom album titled Djebars on April 20 of that year. After the 2018 tour, the band announced its break-up the following year.
