Sonic Whip is a festival promoted in Nijmegen, Netherlands. The festival would be held at Doornroosje in a one-day, all dayer format. The 2019 edition would be held over two stages. Notably Sonic Whip is also a promoter that books several shows in the Netherlands area. The name of the festival derives from an Automatic Sam quote: "Dance, motherfucker dance! You're getting hit with the sonic whip!".

The inaugural edition of Sonic Whip would take place on 5 May 2018 at Doornroosje, a one-day event featuring eight bands.[1] A show was also booked on 4 May at Doornroosje with All Them Witches and Electric Moon.[2]

The 2019 edition of Sonic Whip Festival would take place at Doornroosje on Saturday 4 May 2019. With an expanded lineup of thirteen bands the festival would be expanded to two stages.[3] This edition of the festival would be completely sold out by the time of the event.

In November 2020 Sonic Whip would announce their 2020 lineup with the first ten band announced, along with announcing the date set for 2 May with a pre-party on 1 May. Headliners would include Masters of Reality and Kadavar among other acts.[4] However on 24 March the festival would be entirely canceled due to the CO-VID19 Pandemic along with the Dutch government prohibiting all events until June.[5]

2022[]
On 2 February 2022 it would be announced that there would not be a Sonic Whip Festival in 2021, rather the next edition would be announced for 6 and 7 May 2022.[6] By April 2022 the full lineup had been announced (With Motorpsycho and My Sleeping Karma headlining) and would be almost entirely sold out.[7] The artwork for the festival would be composed by Maarten Donders.
