Band is a Los Angeles based New Wave of Old Metal band Featuring ex Members of The Obsessed, Goatsnake, Hollywood Rose, Angus Khan and Sourvein.
History[]
The rhythm section for legendary stoner-rock outfit Goatsnake drummer Greg Rogers and bassist Scott Renner joined forces with guitarist Steve Darrow and singer/guitarist Tom 5 aka Tom Guay in 2009.
In 2010 the group would record an EP of songs with former the Obsessed/Kyuss bassist Scott Reeder that same year, cultivating a sound that nodded equally to Black Sabbath’s plodding doom and the locomotive drive of Motörhead and early Iron Maiden.
In 2014 the band tracked the follow-up Sunset Soundhouse EP in 2014, with Derek Christensen (better known by his stage name Dirty D) replacing Guay. The new EP further refined the quartet’s stew of ’70s hard rock and metal influences. The recording also got the band picked up by Bay Area-based stoner-rock imprint Ripple Music.
With Steve Darrow keeping the flame alive on socials through the following years not a lot of Sonic Medusa activity was going on, not least because of Steve's prolific output with his side proto-metal cover project Sister Midnight. Setember 2021 it was announced the band was working on a new album to be released in 2022.
September 2022 the band would play a live show for the first time in years.[1]
