Solrize was an Austrian/Italian stoner rock band. Initially forming in 2006 in Vienna the band would eventually move to Italy roughly around 2012. Their sound is stoner rock and heavy rock in the vein of Fu Manchu, Danzig and Kyuss, citing "pre-CD era" as their influence.[1]. Solrize released two albums and an EP in their tenure.

History[]

Solrize was founded in Vienna circa December 2006 by Elvis Nine, Hoss, Mischa and Groeger though Markus would take Groeger's place as drummer. The band's first gig would be on 19 June 2007 opening for Queens of the Stone Age, with following gigs supporting Alabama Thunderpussy, Saviours, Black Cobra and Stonebride over the next year. In September 2007 the band would release their first EP. The following year would see their debut album March of The Maraboo via Burnside Records Vienna, followed by more gigs including supporting Marilyn Manson on 8 June 2009. A few months prior co-founder and original drummer Mike Groeger would rejoin the band.

In 2010 Solrize would begin playing festival gigs such as Donauinsel-Fest and 2 Days a Week Festival. Circa August/September 2011 Solrize would head to California and work with Scott Reeder on a second album. The band would host a five year birthday bash for the band that December[2] and Mano Cornuta would be released in early 2012.

Notably at the end of 2012 vocalist Elvis Nine would relocate to Italy with an entirely new rhythm section, who would tour in 2013 and 2014.[3] The band's last known gig to date was on 29 April 2016 at Beach Invaders in Bibione Penada, Italy.[4]
