So Mortal Be was a doom metal band from Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Active between 2003 and 2008 this trio (later quintet) performed classic traditional doom metal in the vein of the 80s/90s Hellhound Records scene. The band mostly performed local gigs and released an EP in 2006 entitled Initiation Into Nothingness, their only release. By 2007 Russ Thompson and Jonathan Seale would join the group but ultimately So Mortal Be would disband in July 2008. Seale would re-form Iron Void that same month with Wilson joining up as their guitarist.
The band was notably named after a Spirit Caravan song.
