Slowbro are an instrumental stoner/doom metal band from Coventry, UK. Dual wielding 8-string guitars, they interweave bone-crushing heaviness with ethereal melodies and a psychedelic edge that warps the senses. To date the band has released one album and one split while largely performing in England. The band's name is derived from a generation one Pokemon of the same name.[1]
History
Slowbro started sometime in 2016, with their earliest known live performance taking place that November as support for Kurokuma and Kroh.[2] This would follow with an appearance at an all-dayer fest known as Spires.[3] Slowbro would perform a handful of shows in the Coventry area, leading up to working on studio material for a debut album.
Nothings would see release on 12 May 2018, with an album launch taking place at Backhaus and Co. the same day.[4] A split CD with Those Among Us Are Wolves would follow on 9 December with both bands supporting []Toundra]] the next February.[5] The band would perform a handful of shows in 2019, notably at Godivageddon that summer.[6]
