Seven Inches of Doom was a vinyl subscription series and collection of 7" releases by the American label Southern Lord Records. Started in 2000 and keeping the moniker up until at least 2006, the Seven Inches of Doom series, with the intention "to unearth sounds of new or unknown bands, as well as exclusive material from legendary gods.". Many of the singles would be limited to 1000 copies but some would have more pressed in multiple colors exclusive to mail orders and online orders
Along with releasing the 7" singles individually, Southern Lord offered a subscription series for $66 which featured two copies of six of the 7" releases (one black, one color), a Southern Lord t-shirt and any CD of their choice.[1] All of the 7" releases would be stylized with a half-decibel, rather than it's own number (Paul Chain & Internal Void being sunn 8.5, Cathedral being sunn 9.5, etc.). The ".5" moniker would be used for several vinyl and black metal releases in later years. It would return to use on a 7" single for the 2008 Boris release Statement.[2]
