Serpent Throne are an instrumental stoner/doom band from Philadelphia, active between 2005 and 2017, heavily inspired by 70s rock like Scorpions, Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy along with proto-metal like Pentagram and Blue Cheer. Notably, Don Argott and Demian Fenton are also film directors, the former being the owner of 9.14 pictures (and also notably the producer of porn-music project Pornosonic) while the latter has edited many films over the years.
History[]
Serpent Throne began in 2005 by the Fentons, Colin Smith and Don Argott, playing around in the Philadelphia area. Eventually the band would self-release their debut album Ride Satan Ride in 2007. Two years later the band would sign to Vessel Records for their sophomore effort The Battle of Old Crow. Over their first few years the band would share the stage with the likes of Nadja, Grief, Rotor, Nebula, Grails, Stinking Lizaveta and Pentagram among others.
The next year the band would go with the label Translation Loss for their third album White Summer - Black Winter while still playing shows in Philadelphia and Baltimore. The band would follow with an appearance at Farm Fest in 2012 and Autumn Screams Doom in Baltimore the next year.[1] The band would also release a fourth album via Prophase entitled Brother Lucifer. 2015 would see the band perform in Europe for the very firs time at Heavy Days in Doomtown in Denmark.[2]
Serpent Throne would announce a hiatus in April 2017 with their last known show being on 11 December 2016 with The Golden Grass and Alms at Johnny Brenda's in Philly.[3]
