Sangoma was a stoner rock band from Huntington, West Virginia, USA. Active between 2012 and 2015, this "crispy five-piece" composed two albums in a three-year tenure.

History[]

Sangoma was founded in the spring of 2012 by the quintet of Yoke, Gilbert, Babb, Harshbarger and Stiles. The band's first live performance would be at the V Club in Huntington, WV on 25 April 2012 (With Young Widows and Blood Ghost)[1]. On 20 June 2012 the band would record their first album live at Trackside Studios. The eponymous Sangoma was released the same day. Between the first and second albums (With a change in drummers in 2013) the band would share the stage with the likes of The Gates of Slumber, Hail!Hornet,[2] High Priest, Scorpion Child[3] and Horseburner among others.[4]

In the summer of 2013, the band would spend two months working on a follow-up record. Diviner would be released on 23 November 2013 (With a release party at the V Club with Horseburner and Last Days of Sun)[5] The bands last known performances thereafter would be with Horseburner and Torche on 10 December 2013[6] and with Motherplant, Pilgrim and Spirit Caravan on 5 April 2014.[7] At some point in 2014, Yoke would move to Louisville, Kentucky (Later joining The Mighty Auroch and then Blind Scryer).

The band's last social media activities would be in 2015, with the band not being active since.
