The album's opening track "Occult" contains samples from Church of England teaching resource regarding the occult and a reading from an essay by Aleister Crowley and recordings of himself.
The song "Death's Eternal Sleep" contains lyrics taken from H. P. Lovecraft's story The Call of Cthulhu.
The lyrics for the song "Terror is Thy Name" are taken from a poem written by Swami Vivekananda entitled Kali the Mother.
The album's closing track "XXIII" is a drone track composed exclusively of bass and guitar feedback. Unlike the three preceding tracks, the structure of this one is rather loose and not coherent. The band jammed around for 42 minutes during the recording sessions of the album.
