Rotting Kingdom is a death/doom band from Lexington, Kentucky, formed in 2016 from members of Lexington's metal scene. This quintet is described as "Sombre and majestic death doom from the shadowy depths.", drawing from the likes of Candlemass, Neurosis, Autopsy, My Dying Bride and Evoken among others.

History[]

Rotting Kingdom was a project in the works by members of Tombstalker (Escobar and Glancy) over a course of six years but fully came to fruition in early 2016, their debut release taking a year to compose with each member's demanding schedules.[1] The band intended to play that year's edition of Blood of the Wolf Fest along with another planned show but quietly canceled.

Eventually more details of the band would spring up including the debut of the song "Adrift in a Sea of Souls" and intents of an EP release via Morbid Records. On 4 October 2017 at The Green Lantern in Lexington, Rotting Kingdom performed live for the first time alongside FaithXTractor and Necrot. Their debut EP was released on 14 November 2017 with plans of performing at the 2018 edition of Blood of The Wolf Fest.

The band's eponymous debut EP was released on 14 November 2017 digitally with physical versions of the release coming throughout February of 2018. From that point, Rotting Kingdom have begun work on their debut studio album.[2] Recording would begin on the band's first album on 18 May 2019. On 7 June 2019 the band would announce they have signed with Boris Records in the United States and Polish label Godz Ov War Productions for European distribution, along with announcing the album title and art for their debut studio album A Deeper Shade of Sorrow, set for a fall release.[3] On 29 July 2019 Rotting Kingdom would premiere "Barren Harvest" from the forthcoming album entitled A Deeper Shade of Sorrow.[4] A Deeper Shade of Sorrow will be released on 13 March 2020, with a North American tour intended but ultimately canceled.[5]

On 25 February 2022 Rotting Kingdom would release two new songs as part of a split with the death/doom band Encoffination, entitled Wretched Enigma of Salvation.
