Rift were a doom metal band formed in 2010 out of Lincoln, Nebraska. Initially a two-piece instrumental doom metal band they would later evolve into a quartet by 2017. To date the band has released a single album amid other releases.

History[]

Rift formed sometime in 2010 initially as sort of a blues/metal hybrid. However at the time the founding duo of Christensen and Baumann couldn't find other people to play with them and thus functioned as a riff-driven duo with the drums emphasized to fill in the low-end. The duo's earliest known show would take place on 15 June 2013,[1] followed by the last ever performing band at Gibby's (Later released as a live album).[2] The band's first EP entitled Volume 1 saw release on 20 April 2014, with a physical release party on 2 May.

Eventually the band would release an album entitled Saros on 1 April 2016. Over the years Rift would perform with the likes of Destroyer of Light, Serial Hawk, Twingiant, Wicked Inquisition, Rifflord, Hyborian, Mos Generator and The Atomic Bitchwax among others. Rift largely performed in the Nebraska area but would perform in Wyoming in 2017, their first show outside the Cornhusker State.[3]

In 2018 the band would evolve into a quartet with new members Dakota Horrell and Sam Tualborg. This new lineup would release two singles in Temple and Lift To Ash along with performing in Nebraska throughout 2018 and 2019.
