Red Fang are a stoner rock/metal band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2005. The band would gain quick notoriety for their high-energy shows and tongue-in-cheek nature of their frequent music videos, which often features the beer "Pabst Blue Ribbon".[1] To date the band has released five studio albums among a wide arrangement of other releases, four of their albums via Relapse Records.
History[]
Red Fang started out on Wantage USA Records in Montana, where the band released its self-titled LP. Red Fang's 2009 debut for record label Sargent House/Wantage USA combined its first two releases, which were limited-release tour EPs. Following the release of a third tour EP, Red Fang would sign with Relapse Records on 16 September 2010.[2] The band followed this debut with Murder the Mountains, released on Relapse Records in 2011 produced by Chris Funk. Red Fang also appeared on 2011's Metalliance tour alongside the bands Crowbar and Helmet; the same year, Red Fang opened the Jägermeister stage on 2011's edition of the annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival which also featured headliners Megadeth, Godsmack, and Disturbed.
On 12 September 2011, Red Fang was announced as one of the openers (the other being The Dillinger Escape Plan) for Mastodon's 2011 and 2012 tours in the United States and Europe respectively. Later in 2012, Red Fang embarked on a European headlining tour with Black Tusk, performing for the first time in various countries including Russia, Ukraine, and Greece. In February 2013, Red Fang traveled to Australia to play the Australian Soundwave Festival and also performed sideshows with stoner rock bands Kyuss Lives! and Orange Goblin. Following further touring Whales and Leeches would see release on 15 October 2013, peaking at #66 on the Billboard 200.[3] The band performed on Late Show with David Letterman in January 2014.
Following further touring in support of Whales and Leeches, including tours with Opeth and In Flames, work would begin on a fourth studio album in early 2016.[4][5] Only Ghosts would see release on 14 October 2016 to critical acclaim,[6] along with peaking at #143 on the Billboard 200.[7]
Following a relentless touring schedule over the next few years and a period of dormancy in light of the CO-VID19 Pandemic, Red Fang would work on a fifth album, announcing details on 5 April 2021.[8] Arrows would see release on 4 June 2021, with a tour announced for the Fall alongside Here Lies Man and Warish.
