Biography[]

Goatwhore[]

Goatwhore would be founded in 1997 following the disbandment of Acid Bath that same year and changing their name from previously being known as Kilgore. Sammy Pierre Duet and Zak Nolan would found the band with Soilent Green lead vocalist Louis Benjamin Falgoust II, rhythm guitarist Ben Stout and bassist Pat Bruders. The band would release their first demo Serenades to the Tides of Blood in 1998. Signing to Rotten Records, Goatwhore would release their debut album The Eclipse of Ages into Black on 22 February 2000. The band would perform at several US Festivals and participate in the Blood Drive tour witg GWAR and God Forbid.[1]

Goatwhore's follow-up in Funeral Dirge for the Rotting Sun would see release on 21 July 2003, followed by tours with the likes of Immolation, Nile and Amon Amarth.[2] Bruders would leave the band sometime in 2004, with Nathan Bergeron taking his place.

Crowbar[]

Bruders would join Crowbar in 2005 along with drummer Tommy Buckley, after the band had released Lifesblood For the Downtrodden on 8 February 2005. Crowbar would tour heavily throughout 2005 in support of the record alongside the likes of Hatebreed, Corrosion of Conformity, Alabama Thunderpussy and Weedeater among others. Crowbar would be in the process of working on a second music video in support of Lifesblood ("Slave No More") when Hurrican Katrina struck. Despite the setbacks the band were able to participate in Hatebreed's tenth anniversary show in New Haven.

The band would tour the UK again in 2006 and take a bit of a hiatus. As Down would tour in support of Down III a live DVD of Crowbar entitled Live: With Full Force saw release via Candlelight on 12 February 2007, the first Crowbar release to feature Bruders. Crowbar would play Eyehategod's 20th Anniversary Show in NOLA, which also coincided on the 3rd anniversary of Katrina.[3] Crowbar would play sporadically in this time, notably at Stillborn Fest in December 2009.

Crowbar would sign to eOne Music on 14 June 2010[4], in between extensive touring all into the Summer, starting with supporting Sepultura that April, A summer European tour and a Fall North American tour alongside Black Tusk, their first headlining tour in over five years. The band's ninth album Sever The Wicked Hand saw release on 8 February 2011 to further critical acclaim, debuting at #172 on the Billboard 200 with 3,600 copies sold in it's first week.[5] Crowbar would tour the Spring of 2011 the UK in support of the record and participate in the Metalliance Tour with Helmet and Saint Vitus that May. Going into 2012 the band would participate in the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise, tour the USA with Prong and then Europe through the summer in between touring with Down. Bruders would quit Crowbar on 2 September[6]. Within the month the band would find a new bassist after "100s of video auditions" in Jeff Golden, announced on 30 September.[7]

Down[]

For more details, feel free to view the Riffipedia page on Down.

In 2011, Bruders would join Down after it would be announced that Rex Brown departed from the band.[8] Initially brought on as a live bassist, he would eventually become a full member of the band. The band spoke on their Facebook page and said they started recording new material on 20 October. 16 January 2012, they revealed track names for the new EP on Facebook. The band would released their first EP entitled Down IV - Part I on 18 September 2012 while remaining active on the road. Initially, rumors spread about the possibility of Down releasing four EPs, instead of an album. However, when asked about it in an interview with Scuzz TV, Anselmo said that "It would be too pretentious, we try not to think as far ahead as that, and just go with what we feel at the time." Ultimately the Down IV concept would lead to two EPs, with Down IV – Part II released on 13 May 2014. Down would tour throughout 2014 and 2015 in support of the most recent EP.

Down's activity would slow in 2016, performing mainly a hometown show in April and an appearance at Psycho Las Vegas that year. This likely could also be attributed to the band members keeping to their own respective projects (Anselmo with Superjoint, Bower with Superjoint and Eyehategod, Keenan returning to Corrosion of Conformity, etc.). Down would reunite in 2020 for a series of shows in observance of the 25th anniversary of NOLA, with Bruders remaining on as the bassist. Following a livestream performance that year, Down would end up headlining Psycho Las Vegas in 2021, performing NOLA in full.

Other Bands[]

Outlaw Order would release their only album Dragging Down The Enforcer saw an official release on 11 November 2008 via Season of Mist with an official release party on 9 January 2009.[9] Though he did not play on the record, Bruders would join on as the band's live bassist. From there the band began playing at a host of different shows including Chaos in Tejas, Hellfest and Los Angeles Muderfest while Bower was on tour with Down, who were touring in support of their third album at the time. The band would play one last known show in 2010 before going inactive largely due to Eyehategod becoming active again.

Bruders would notably be involved with a country band known as Pure Luck from 2010 - 2017.[10] Bruders had also been involved with a crust punk project known as Gasmiasma, who would be founded in 2009. The band would release two EPs, a live album and a studio album while largely performing as a supporting act in New Orleans, along with festivals such as Housecore Horror Fest.[11]

In 2016 Patrick Bruders would join Saint Vitus on bass, replacing founding member Mark Adams who would step down due to health issues.[12] Bruders' first performance with the band would be at the 2016 edition of Hammer of Doom Festival. On the fall 2017 tour it was announced that the band had a new studio album in the works with Scott Reagers on vocals and have recently placed a new song entitled "Bloodshed" into their live sets. Saint Vitus would take a year off touring to concentrate on the next album, which would be recorded in November. On 27 February 2019 the band would announce their ninth album titled Saint Vitus. This second self-titled album would be released on 17 May 2019 via Season of Mist. Notably it's their first album with Bruders, their first album after a seven-year gap and the first to feature original singer Scott Reagers in nearly 25 years. The band also released a single entitled "12 Years in the Tomb".[13] Saint Vitus would tour Europe with Dopelord to support the album's release that April.
