PIST are a stoner metal band based out of Bury, Manchester, England. Forming in 2013, PIST perform a no-nonsense mix of heavy sound, deviating into heavy metal, sludge or groove. Regularly touring around the UK with many of their heavy peers, the quartet have released two studio albums to date along among an EP and a single.
History[]
PIST would form in 2013, not long after forming would write five songs and record them at Skyhammer Studio with Chris Fielding (Conan). The band's debut in Riffology would see release on 10 February 2014, followed by tours with the likes of Ten Foot Wizard, Widows and Diesel King and gigs supporting Church of Misery and Sir Admiral Cloudsley Shovell.
Work would begin on a debut album in the Fall of 2015,[1] returning to Skyhammer Studios after a tour with Gurt and BongCauldron and appearances at Riff Fest and Bloodstock. Rhythm & Booze would see release on 30 October 2015, attaining positive reception from the likes of The Sludgelord,[2] The Sleeping Shaman[3] and Ave Noctum[4] among others.
Over the next couple years PIST would regularly play the United Kingdom be it tours, supporting gigs, weekenders or festivals such as Desertfest London and APF Records Showcase. In 2018 the band would sign with APF Records, their first release being a compilation of the previous EP and album entitled 68OFO on 30 March 2018. Work would begin in 2019 on a second album, recording at Foel Studio with Chris Fielding and even collaborating with Elephant Tree on a song. Hailz would see release on 8 November 2019, with a release party the same day at The Bread Shed in Manchester.[5] Hailz would attain praise from the likes of Kerrang,[6] Invisible Oranges[7] and Distorted Sound Magazine[8] to name a few.
PIST were intended to tour in 2020 to support Hailz but touring would be halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless the band would release a digital single in 2020, a cover of Darkthrone's Fuck Off and Die.
