Nucleus is the fifth studio album by the Swedish hard rock band Witchcraft, recorded in 2015 and released in the Winter of 2016 via Nuclear Blast Records. As a further departure from the band's doom and hard rock sound, the band's sound evolved more into a progressive rock sound, with longer songs including the band's longest song in "Breakdown", spanning fifteen minutes and fifteen seconds. At sixty-nine minutes, Nucleus is also Witchcraft's longest album.
Background[]
Witchcraft would go on a hiatus following touring in 2012 and 2013 supporting Legend, notably with Magnus releasing solo material and touring solo around the same time. The band would re-surface in the Fall of 2015, announcing a new lineup and Nucleus, along with a new single in "The Outcast" to promote the album.[1] A 7" single featuring an edited version of "The Outcast" would see release on 4 December 2015, with the b-side being a cover of "Even In His Youth" by Nirvana.[2] Nucleus would ultimately see release on 15 January 2015 to mostly positive reviews.[3][4][5][6]
