No One Rides For Free

No One Rides For Free is the debut album by the California stoner rock band Fu Manchu, released in early 1994 via Bong Load Records. Notably it's the band's shortest full-length album and the only full-length to feature bassist Mark Abshire, who later formed Nebula with Eddie Glass and Ruben Romano once Glass and Romano would leave Fu Manchu in 1996.

Following the release of several singles between 1991 and 1993, Fu Manchu would begin recording their debut album, with Brant Bjork (Kyuss) producing. No One Rides For Free would see release in early 1994 though most sources cite the release date of 1 January. The inaugural release would be on Bong Load Records on CD and Vinyl, the tenth overall release on the label. Abshire would leave some months after the album's release with Brad Davis taking over on bass.

No One Rides For Free, though not seeing the praise of later records, has it's share of positive reception by the likes of Drowned in Sound,[1] Daily Republic,[2] Debaser[3] and The Obelisk[4] among others.

No One Rides For Free would see a 20th anniversary review via At The Dojo Records in January 2014, remastered from the original tapes. The album would be reissued on CD and vinyl in several different colors.
