More Echoes, Touching Air Landscape is a split album between the Japanese psychedelic project known as Choukoku no Niwa and the Japanese experimental band Boris. The split album was originally released in the Fall of 1999 via Inoxia Records in what would be one of the label's earliest releases. It would see a CD reissue in 2006 albeit with different artwork and separating the two part Kanau into their own tracks.
Choukoku no Niwa's side would be recorded at Shimoigusa Studio circa 28 February 1999 and mixed from 7 March to 16 April 1999. Split into five sections, "Fukurou" would feature a loose psychedelic style heavily emphasized by layers of percussion and three drummers. It is the project's only release.
Boris' side would be recorded in different studios. Kanau Part 2 would be recorded first, with recording done at Sound Crew on 2 and 3 May 1999. Kanau Part 1 would be recorded at Sound Square on 16 May 1999 and 23 May 1999. Listed as one song but split into two parts, Boris' side would explore several both sides of the band. "Kanau Part 1" is a minimalist, drumless drone while "Kanau Part 2" merges into a sludgy section before evolving into a trance-like heavy rock with largely clean vocals by Takeshi and Atsuo. Structurally it's similar to songs like "Hama" and "Ganbou-Ki" on 1998's Amplifier Worship but also hints at more of the stoner rock style would adopt beginning with 2002's Heavy Rocks.
On 7 May Boris would re-issue Kanau as "Kanau Re-Master + Live", featuring a live rendition recorded in late 1998 as a bonus track.[1]
