Monolith on the Mesa is a festival hosted in Taos, New Mexico. is a “High Desert Experience” that is an independent 2nd year 3 day festival that is being hosted on the grounds of Taos Mesa Brewing and Hotel Luna Mystica in Taos, New Mexico (8 miles from the town of Taos). The festival is focused around the heavy rock genre (Heavy Psych, Stoner, Retro Rock, Sludge, Space Rock, Doom, Drone) as well as installation art along with visuals projected around the compound. Music inspires art, as well as art inspiring music. It is limited to 1,500 tickets and will be an intimate performance. There are two stages, the indoor stage, and the outdoor “earthship” amphitheater that will be rotating acts throughout the day. The festival is a perfect getaway, offering attendees the unique and mystical Taos experience! Enjoy a weekend on the breathtaking high desert mesa, surrounded by unobstructed views of the Sangre de Christo Mountains. The festival sits on the gateway to the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument which lends festival goers to a choose your own adventure with endless hikes, river rafting, natural and resort hot springs and bike trails.

2019[]

The inaugural Monolith on The Mesa would be announced for 16 - 18 May 2019 at Taos Mesa Brewing and Hotel Luna Mystica.[1] Details would be revealed initially in late December to early January, when a poster inspired by the 1973 Alejandro Jodorowsky film The Holy Mountain.[2] Bands and further details would be revealed through the coming months, ultimately with forty-five performers over three days. Visuals would be provided by the Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show.

2022[]

Following a successful first edition a 2020 edition of the festival would be announced, the festival would slowly announce bands for its second edition. Eventually the majority of the lineup would be announced for 2 January, along with its proposed date of 28 - 30 May 2020.[3] However on 30 March it would be announced that the festival would be postponed to September amid The Covid-19 pandemic,[4] later to September 2021 and then again to September 2022.[5]
