Lucifer Rising is an EP by the Swedish epic doom band Candlemass, released in 2008 via Nuclear Blast Records. Candlemass recorded two new tracks, "Lucifer Rising" and "White God", and re-recorded "Demons Gate" (From Epicus Doomicus Metallicus for this release.[1] Recording on the new material was completed in April 2008. The title track, "Lucifer Rising", is included as a bonus song on the digipak edition of the full-length album Death Magic Doom, which was released six months after the EP.[2]
However this EP is longer than most of the band's other works as a live performance added as a bonus, with nine songs from a performance at Gagarin 205 in Athens, Greece on 30 September 2007. The band can be heard going into "Embracing The Styx" during the set but the song was ultimately omitted, presumably due to CD and Vinyl limitations. Also in regards to Greece, Lucifer Rising would chart in that country, peaking at #31.[3]
Lucifer Rising would attain favorable reviews from several publications such as Metal-Temple (8/10)[4] and BraveWords (8/10).[5]
