Loss was a funeral doom metal band based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Since forming in 2004, the band released two albums, two demos and five different split releases. The band's first studio release was a split with German death/doom band Necros Christos on the black metal label Blood Fire Death. Other splits included one with funeral doom legends Worship, another entitled "Four Burials" with Otesanek, Orthodox and yet another legendary funeral doom band, Mournful Congregation, and lastly a split with Hooded Menace entitled "View from the Rope". They also have two demos(one being a rehearsal) and In 2011 the band released their debut full length, entitled Despond. In 2017 they released their 2nd full length album Horizonless.
Musically the band draws inspiration from themes of depression, anxiety, illness and suicide. Along with drawing inspiration from Funeral Doom and Death/Doom the band also draws inspiration from various black metal acts as indicated by several releases appearing on black metal labels and two of the core members running black metal labels.
The band's last social media posts were in the Fall of 2018.[1] The status of the band is currently unknown.
