Legion of Doom is a doom metal supergroup with it's collective members based out of the United States. Founded in 2022, it would feature members of The Skull, Trouble, Saint Vitus and Corrosion of Conformity.
The project was founded by Holzner, who wanted to honor the memory of Eric Wagner, who passed away in 2021. Speaking of the project in a press release, he would state the following of Legion of Doom: "I decided I want to honor the memory of Eric by playing songs that he crafted. I want his spirit to become eternal through his words and melody. And I also want to play songs from the catalogs of everyone involved."[1]
In an interview with Ear Split Compound, Holzner would further elaborate: “I’m not in this boat alone. I decided I want to honor the memory of Eric by still playing some of the songs that he crafted, and ones that [guitarist] Lothar [Keller] and I wrote with him in The Skull. I want his spirit to become eternal through his words and melody. And I also want to play many songs from the catalogs of everyone involved. We want to honor Eric as well as Reed Mullin [Corrosion Of Conformity], Armando Acosta [Saint Vitus], and, most recently, Mark Adams from Saint Vitus. We have all lost someone close and special to us that we have spent much time making and playing music with over the years.”
The projects debut dates would be in June 2023, first at Legions Of Metal Fest in Chicago, followed by select festival appearances in Europe.
Victor Griffin (Death Row, Place of Skulls, Pentagram) was intended to be a part of the project but would opt to rejoin Pentagram in 2023.
