Las Cruces are a long running doom metal band from San Antonio, Texas. Active since 1994 they have shared the stage with countless notable bands within the stoner scene and have been noted as the most recognizable Texas doom band alongside Solitude Aeturnus.

The band Name means 'the crosses'.

History[]

Las Cruces formed in the mid 90s, the band has released 3 albums: S.O.L., Ringmaster, and Dusk. The band's albums are characterized by over-the-top heavy doom riffing and the catchy, wailing vocals of frontman Mark Zammaron. It's known the band did one extensive USA tour in 1999 as well.

The band has had several lineup shifts over the course of it's history. In the years since Dusk's 2010 release, the band's touring lineup has consisted of long time members George Trevino (Guitar), Paul DeLeon (Drums, Vocals), and Mando Tovar (Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals), joined by Jimmy Bell (Bass) and (as of July 2015) Jason Kane (Vocals).

Due to it's longevity and strong records, the band is well known outside of TX, around the U.S., appearing at national festival's such as Wisconsin's Days of the Doomed where the band headlined in 2014. The band remains active as of 2017 and are currently working on new material including a full-length on Ripple Records.

Longtime drummer Paul DeLeon died from CO-VID19 complications on 6 January 2021, aged 52.

On 24 March 2022 Las Cruces would return with a fourth album in Cosmic Tears on 3 June 2022 via Ripple Music, along with announcing an appearance at RippleFest Texas.[1]
