History[]
Jean-Paul Gaster from Clutch met Opeth keyboardist Per Wiberg at the Sounds of the Underground Tour. They jammed together and allowed other musicians to join them, with the motto of "get funky or get out". Later, they gathered at a home Wiberg rented in Sweden, and invited Kamchatka guitarist Thomas Andersson and Ulf Rockis Ivarsson, among others, to record an album in one week. The band has thus far released one self-titled album.
King Hobo have performed on at least one occasion at Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg on 9 February 2013.[1]
On 6 April 2019 it would be announced that Wiberg, Andersson and Gaster had been recording and finished a second studio album, premiering a new song in "Listen Here".[2] Mauga would be released by Clutch's own label Weathermaker Music on 31 May 2019, seeing positive reception from the likes of Ghostcult Magazine,[3] Maximum Volume Music[4] and Riff Relevant[5] among others.
