Kalas was a short-lived doom/stoner band from Oakland, California, active from 2004 - 2007. Kalas was best known as a side project involving Matt Pike of Sleep and High on Fire, featuring him as strictly a lead vocalist.
History[]
Kalas begin as a side-project among the bands' respective members, Matt Pike in particular referred to the project as a "singing practice" that evolved into a full band. Eventually they'd go into the recording studio after being signed by Tee Pee Records in February 2006.[1] After the album's release in April 2006, the band would embark on a string of shows with Blue Cheer and Goblin Cock in the summer of that year, followed by a North American tour.[2]
However, by summer 2007 the band had been split up according to Matt Pike.[3]
