Kalas was a short-lived doom/stoner band from Oakland, California, active from 2004 - 2007. Kalas was best known as a side project involving Matt Pike of Sleep and High on Fire, featuring him as strictly a lead vocalist.

History

Kalas begin as a side-project among the bands' respective members, Matt Pike in particular referred to the project as a "singing practice" that evolved into a full band. Eventually they'd go into the recording studio after being signed by Tee Pee Records in February 2006. After the album's release in April 2006, the band would embark on a string of shows with Blue Cheer and Goblin Cock in the summer of that year, followed by a North American tour.

However, by summer 2007 the band had been split up according to Matt Pike.
