Into The Exam Room is the third and final studio album by the stoner rock band Hermano. Recorded at several studios in similar fashion to the band's second album Dare I Say..., featuring engineers the likes of Robbie Waldman (Waxy), Sean Bilovecky (Disengage, Frayle) and the band themselves recording between four different states.

Into The Exam Room would be released in the Fall of 2007 via Suburban Records and the Spring of 2008 via Remain Records.

Background[]

Work would begin on a third Hermano record in 2006 following a string of touring the year prior. The band had all been busy with various projects and in different states so in similar fashion to Dare I Say... the band would record the album in the following different studios:

  • Butter Studio, Joshua Tree, CA
  • Breaking Point Productions, Atlanta, GA
  • Wrath Arcane Music Division, Cleveland, OH
  • Superloud Productions, Lexington, KY
  • Feldman Recording Studio, Palm Springs, CA (All vocals except Track 6, 10)
  • Unit A Recording Studio, Palm Springs, CA (Vocals tracks on 6, 10)
  • Bang Recording Studio, Atlanta, GA (Mixing)
  • Glenn Schick Mastering, Atlanta, GA (Mastering)

Details on the album would surface in September 2007 along with a tour of Europe announced to support it.[1][2] The three core members would speak at length about the emotional process and the cathartic experience of recording "Into The Exam Room":[3]

"Everybody has problems. But this record is to escape and forget about all the BS, if only for 45 minutes. Don't try to figure out the lyrics. It means whatever it means to the listener. This is the most emotional record in my entire life It's been a long time since I felt this strongly about a record. Honestly, I haven't felt this strongly since KYUSS." - John Garcia

"Making this album was so absolutely cathartic for me. As we were recording it, it became a soundscape to hectic year for me...and a broken heart, which was healed by two amazing kids, some amazingly kick-ass friends, and a trusty Les Paul. Life doesn't get much better than that! '…Into the Exam Room' will always have a special place in my heart, as will my Hermanos." - David Angstrom

"I spent the last few years saturated in the love of my wife and children, adding a new face along the way… Kentucky. At the same time, I kept looking toward the horizon and beyond. With '…Into the Exam Room' and every HERMANO album, there's been a story to tell, and it's always amazing that we can take all of those various parts of our lives, both the sweet and the bitter, and breathe life into a batch of songs." - Dandy Brown

"I could not be more pleased with the way this band continues to conquer through adversity. Faced with thousands of miles between us, babies being born, wives having surgery, divorces, and a record on a deadline, this band still managed to release a kick-ass record. Being willing to be challenged and punch life right back in the mouth is a testament to everyone involved." - Chris Leathers

Into The Exam Room would be released in the Fall of 2007 via Suburban Records and the Spring of 2008 via Remain Records, with a one-off concert in Lexington, Kentucky to support the North American release.[4] The song "Kentucky" would get a sequel in "Give Me 250ml" on John Garcia's 2017 solo album The Coyote Who Spoke In Tongues. This song would be re-recorded and renamed "Kentucky II" for Garcia's 2019 solo album John Garcia and The Band of Gold. "Dark Horse II" would be re-recorded for Dandy Brown's project The Fizz Fuzz on their 2020 album Palmyra.
