In Search of Hawkwind is a tribute album to the English space rock band Hawkwind, released in September 2010 via Critical Mass Records. All of the songs were recorded between 2005 and 2008, except for Mudhoney's track which was recorded for the John Peel Show on Radio 1, first transmitted on 2nd of October 2002.
Six of the songs were previously released as part of a series via Irish label Trensmat known as the Sonic Attack trilogy. These three 7" records were as presented as follows:
- Sonic Attack (Motorheads), which was released circa November 2008 and featured Mugstar and Mudhoney.
- Sonic Attack (Psychedelic Warlords), which was released November 2008 and featured Acid Mothers Temple & The Cosmic Inferno and White Hills.
- Sonic Attack (Lords Of Light), which was released November 2008 and featured Bardo Pond and Kinski.
