In Search Of... is the third studio album by the California stoner rock band Fu Manchu. It would be released in February 1996 via Mammoth Records. Notably it's the last album to feature guitarist Eddie Glass and drummer Ruben Romano, both leaving soon after to form Nebula with previous Fu Manchu bassist Mark Abshire.
Background[]
Gaining momentum from their previous record Daredevil and touring with Monster Magnet, Fu Manchu would record their third studio album in Hollywood, working with Brian Jenkins. Mammoth would release "In Search Of..." on 27 February 1996 to positive reception at the time. Lead guitarist Eddie Glass had a more prominent writing role on the record, penning half the songs: kickoff single "Missing Link", "Solid Hex", "Supershooter", "Seahag", "Neptune's Convoy" and "The Bargain".
However, Eddie Glass and Ruben Romano would leave the band not long after the album was released, with Bob Balch joining as the new guitarist and Brant Bjork joining as the new drummer for forthcoming tours alongside the likes of Clutch, Core, Orange 9MM and many others.
Initial pressings of the album came on CD and Vinyl, this time with pressings in the United States, Europe, Australia and Japan. Notably In Search Of... would see a 15th anniversary reissue via At The Dojo Records, with the band touring and performing the whole album in support of this anniversary.[1]
While little is known if the album had been reviewed much at the time but In Search Of... has been retroactively praised as one of the band's finest efforts.[2][3][4]
