How The Winter Was Passed is a 7" single by the Louisville post-rock band Rodan. Featuring two re-recorded songs from the band's first demo Aviary, How The Winter Was Passed would be released via Louisville label Three Little Girls and limited to 500 copies, with some copies featuring a red label variant rather than a black label. "Milk & Melancholy" was recorded in September 1992 while "Exoskeleton" was recorded in June 1993.
Notably, this is the only Rodan release of the band's original run that credits all six members involved with the band as contributors. Also of note is each song features a different drummer, as "Milk & Melancholy" features Jon Cook while "Exoskeleton" features John Weiss. Both recordings would appear on Fifteen Quiet Years.
