Hopkins (The Witchfinder General) is an EP by the English doom metal band Cathedral. Released as a follow-up to the band's third album The Carnival Bizarre, Hopkins was released on 9 April 1996 in Europe via Earache Records and 1 March 1996 via Toy's Factory in Japan. A music video was made for the title track and later included on Our God Has Landed. Featuring clips from the 1968 Vincent Price film Witchfinder General, the video has also been included with some versions of the DVD. Copper Sunset is actually an arranged version by Garry Jennings of Sandrose's song "To Take Him Away".
Other Versions[]
Along with the standard CD, Cassette and Vinyl released via Earache, several alternate versions of the EP exist.
- The version released by Toy's Factory in Japan features a sixth song, a cover of "You Know" by Curved Air.[1]
- A cassette version was released by Polish label Metal Mind Records, containing the entire Statik Majik EP as bonus tracks.[2]
- A promo version exists that also contains the two Black Sabbath covers Cathedral contributed to Nativity in Black as bonus tracks.[3]
