Historical Graffiti (Also known as Historical Graffiti - The Ion Studio Sessions) is the third studio album by the desert rock group Yawning Man, released in August 2016 via Lay Bare Recordings. Recorded while on tour in South America in 2015 it's notably the first studio album with current drummer Bill Stinson and the first Yawning Man release not to feature original drummer Alfredo Hernández.
Background[]
Initially work began on a third Yawning Man studio album via an IndieGogo campaign which proved to be successful. Ten percent of the donations also went towards Alliance For Animals. Intents was for the album to be recorded at Thunder Underground Studios but for unknown reasons beyond the band's control shifted to another project.[1]
In June Yawning Man would tour South America for the first time, mainly through Chile and Argentina. Invited to record at the legendary Ion Studios for one evening Yawning Man would record an entire album's worth of material along with a host of additional musicians. Ultimately, Historical Graffiti would be released on 18 August 2016 to positive critical reception. The album would be released on CD, Digital and Vinyl (Black, Green and Clear Blue).
