Heavy Psych is the fifth studio album by the California stoner rock band Nebula. Recorded in 2008 in Los Angeles, it would be the band's last studio album of their original run before going on hiatus in 2010. Heavy Psych would be the first release by the band on Tee Pee Records in over a decade, the prior release being their 1997 debut EP Let it Burn. Heavy Psych would also be notable as the band's shortest album at just over thirty minutes, along with being the only album to feature drummer Rob Oswald.
Background[]
On 18 June 2007 founding drummer Ruben Romano would leave the band, with Rob Oswald (Karma To Burn, Mondo Generator) would take over the drum role.[1][2]
Initially released as a promo EP on tour with Totimoshi and later added with a few more songs, Heavy Psych would see release on 7 July 2009 via Tee Pee Records, the same label as the band's first EP.[3][4] Heavy Psych would see positive reviews from the likes of Pop Matters,[5][6] and Logic Fuzzy[7] among others. Nebula would tour North America to support the album.[8] However, by 2010 after Oswald departing and a short tour of SXSW, Nebula would go on hiatus until 2017.
